Candle Care

  1. Trim the Wick:

    • Before lighting a candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm). This helps prevent excessive smoking and ensures a clean, even burn.
  2. First Burn Matters:

    • Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is melted during the first use. This helps prevent tunnelling (a hole in the center of the wax) and sets the stage for an even burn in subsequent uses.
  3. Burn Time:

    • Limit each burn session to 3-4 hours to prevent the candle from overheating. Excessive burn times can cause the candle to produce soot and affect its overall quality.
  4. Avoid Drafts:

    • Place candles away from drafts to ensure an even burn. Drafts can cause uneven burning, dripping, and smoking.
  5. Use a Candle Snuffer:

    • Instead of blowing out the candle, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Blowing can cause hot wax to splatter, and using a snuffer helps maintain a clean wax pool.
  6. Center the Wick:

    • If the wick starts to drift off-center, gently reposition it while the wax is still molten to ensure an even burn.
  7. Keep the Wax Pool Clean:

    • Remove any debris or match remnants from the wax pool. This helps maintain a clean and even burn.
  8. Rotate Candles:

    • To ensure even burning, rotate your candles occasionally, especially those in containers, to avoid uneven burning.
  9. Safety First:

    • Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials and out of the reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  10. Store Properly:

    • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and warping.
